SAINT E'S WINS READERS' CHOICE AWARD FOR BEST PRIVATE SCHOOL

The School of Saint Elizabeth is proud to announce it was recently recognized by City Lifestyle Magazine, winning the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Private School in Somerset County.

Founded in 1916 and connected to the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the School of St. Elizabeth serves students from prekindergarten through eighth grade. St. Elizabeth School stays true to its mission: to impact the world positively by nurturing children with Christian values in a Catholic academic tradition of excellence.

"Students are eager to come to school because learning at St. E’s is dynamic and meaningful. Classrooms are filled with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. Equally important is the school’s commitment to faith-filled learning. Students not only grow academically but also spiritually, developing character traits such as kindness, respect, responsibility, and integrity. The opportunity to be challenged, achieve at high levels, and grow in faith gives students a deep sense of purpose and pride in their school experience," Principal Donley says.

That strong sense of community is something students say sets the school apart.

"One of my favorite things about Saint E’s is the sense of community and friendship. At Saint E’s, it is exciting to go to school and learn something new. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I have to go to school. I have to learn.’ I actually feel excited. I get to learn something new today, and I am going to have a really fun time doing it," one student shared.

Beyond academics, the School of Saint Elizabeth offers leadership and enrichment opportunities through programs like Student Ambassadors, where selected students in grades 5–8 represent the school, mentor younger peers, and welcome new families, and the Buddy Program, which pairs older and younger students for Mass and collaborative activities throughout the year. Eighth graders also complete a year-long Capstone Project, conducting research on a local or global issue, developing solutions, collaborating with experts, and presenting their findings to the school community. Sixth grader Graham also speaks highly of the extracurricular offerings.

"I love Saint Elizabeth’s because it has a bunch of activities that you can participate in. I did robotics this year for the first time. I started a chess club a year or two ago. This year there has been a garden club, art club, robotics, and a bunch of different clubs," he said.

The school is having a moment in the spotlight. It’s also celebrating 110 years of excellence in Catholic Education.
