The Art Program at the School of Saint Elizabeth has a broad reaching impact on students as well as the greater community. Students experience a variety of mediums to achieve well-rounded knowledge of how to use art to express thought and feeling. The artistic process begins with inspiration; from nature, the seasons, the natural world, literature, the life and times of past artists, as well as current events. Works from literary based inspiration often include a written element that is artistically integrated into each student’s final composition.  In following with the school’s philosophy of building empathy through serving the community, the Art Program devotes time each year to local institutions, such as the Veteran’s Hospital and Compassionate Care Hospice. ‘Buddy Art Activities’ engage students in a multi-grade art experience that fosters friendships, and enhances artistic expression.  Our older students support the school’s performing arts endeavors by creating scenery, props and holiday decorations throughout the year.  Student engagement and personal expression is at the core or our Art Program both in the Art Studio as well as in the classroom.  Classroom teachers collaborate with the Art Program to integrate artistic elements to enhance classroom projects.
